SkinPen Microneedling

Enrich Family Practice

Family Practice located in Odessa, TX

Skin rejuvenation is possible by creating tiny microinjuries that stimulate collagen production using SkinPen® microneedling. Maria Cole, APRN, FNP-C, and Kelly Wenger, APRN, FNP-C, offer SkinPen microneedling to minimize age-related facial changes like wrinkles, lines, and sun spots. To schedule a microneedling consultation, call Maria Cole Family Practice or book online today.

What is the SkinPen® microneedling procedure?

SkinPen® microneedling (collagen induction therapy) is the first and ONLY microneedling device in the world that is FDA-cleared. SkinPen® microneedling is one of the most popular treatments for skin rejuvenation at Maria Cole Family Practice and can treat the following conditions on the face and body:

  • Acne scars
  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Large pores
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots
  • Stretchmarks
  • Injury scars

These features are typically not harmful, but they affect how your skin looks. SkinPen microneedling offers firmer, smoother, more even-toned skin.

How does the SkinPen® microneedling procedure work?

SkinPen microneedling helps your skin produce new collagen by creating hundreds of microchannels in your skin using fine needles at controlled depths. Similar to fractional laser treatments, skin resurfacing, and chemical peels, SkinPen® microneedling induces a wound healing response. It has fewer side effects and less downtime than comparable treatments.

SkinPen has gained tremendous popularity due to its smaller treatment head, which allows it to treat hard-to-reach areas around your eyes, nose, and lips. It’s also much safer and more precise than comparable devices and has adjustable settings for the depth of the needles.

This procedure is safe for skin tone and texture, unlike many other laser treatments.

How many SkinPen microneedling treatments do I need?

You can detect improvements with each treatment, but a series of three to six treatments is recommended to achieve optimal results. Your Maria Cole Family Practice nurse practitioner develops a unique treatment plan just for you.

How long do SkinPen microneedling results last?

Individual results can vary, but the collagen you make is your own and continues accelerated production over the next six to nine months, resulting in additional improvements over time. You can make them last as long as possible by protecting your skin from the sun and using medical-grade skin care products.

Does SkinPen microneedling hurt?

Your nurse practitioner applies a medical-grade topical numbing cream prior to your treatment, making SkinPen® microneedling a relatively comfortable procedure.

What does my skin feel like after microneedling?

Your skin looks like and feels similar to a sunburn shortly after microneedling. However, the downtime is minimal, and you may return to work or go back home right away.
