5 Tips for Slowing the Physical Signs of Aging

5 Tips for Slowing the Physical Signs of Aging

Healthy aging starts with health. A whole-foods diet that emphasizes a variety of vegetables, low-glycemic fruits, and high-quality, organic proteins is a good start — so is exercising several times a week.

But even with the best diet and the workout routines, your skin and the rest of your body continues to age. Many signs of aging, though, can be reversed or at least slowed down so you look as young, radiant, and energized as you feel.

At Enrich Family Practice in Odessa, Texas, our expert nurse practitioners want you to remain confident, happy, and youthful in your skin, both now and in the coming years and decades. That’s why we offer a number of therapies that resolve or improve the physical signs of aging.

1. Heal and rebuild your skin

Sagging, wrinkled skin is damaged skin. Although wrinkles and sags are usually associated with the aging process, they’re also a sign of sun damage. The sun’s UVA and UVB rays alter the DNA in skin cells, so they can’t function at their peak anymore.

The result of sun damage and aging is skin lost thickness, strength, elasticity, and clarity. You can repair skin damage with another kind of light: The Icon™ laser.

Our aesthetics experts use the Icon to create micro wounds in the deep layers of your skin that trigger your cells to produce new collagen, elastin, and skin cells. The Icon improves the color, texture, and health of your skin to resolve:

After you’ve restored and rebuilt your skin, you can also touch up any trouble areas by treating dynamic wrinkles with Botox® or Xeomin® and static wrinkles and creases with dermal filler injections.

2. Restore facial volume

The reason some surgical face-lifts fail to create a natural look is that they do nothing to restore the volume in the mid-face, which is a hallmark of youth. Without surgery, without downtime, you can refill that lost volume with injectable dermal fillers.

We offer dermal fillers made with hyaluronic acid (HA), like Belotero Balance®. Your own body produces HA to create moist, supple skin. However, as you age, your HA depletes. Belotero restores HA and integrates into your skin to help it produce more collagen and elastin.

Radiesse® features microparticles in a gel to stimulate skin healing and rebuilding, including neocollagenesis. Dermal fillers smooth out fine lines, wrinkles, and creases and add volume to cheeks, lips, and other areas that have grown thinner with age.

3. Lift your face without surgery

Thread lifts are a fast and safe way to lift sagging tissues, including jowls and cheeks. Injectable, dissolvable sutures provide lift and anchorage to your skin instantly. Combine a thread lift with the Icon and dermal fillers for a real “wow” effect.

4. Renew your body from the inside

Many of the physical signs of aging — including thinning skin and hair, as well as muscle loss and fat gain — are due to your body’s decreased production of important hormones. Both women and men suffer from the loss of hormones such as estrogen and testosterone.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) restores balance to your hormones, so your body functions better. You stop losing hair, your skin looks healthier, and it’s easier to build fat-burning muscles.

5. De-bulk middle-age bulges

Body sculpting and re-contouring with FDA-cleared SculpSure® picks up where diet and exercise leave off. If you have genetically determined areas of resistant fat, we use SculpSure to destroy unneeded fat cells so your body eliminates them forever.

You may need a series of treatments to completely eliminate fatty bulges around your abdomen, hips, and arms. We can even remove your double chin with SculpSure, taking years off your face.
